Ready, Set, Sketch: Oak Hill Farm!

We have a special sketch location this month for Ready, Set, Sketch at Oak Hill Farm this Saturday July 14, 10am – 1pm! Oak Hill Farm of Sonoma is a 700-acre ranch on the eastern side of the Valley of the Moon, in Glen Ellen. This is a great sketching opportunity!

From their website:
The Red Barn Store set in a rustic 100-year old barn among the rolling produce and flower fields at Oak Hill Farm offers the local community and travelers alike an opportunity to purchase our sustainably grown produce, flowers, floral greens and other country effects right on our Sonoma County farm. Seasonal heirloom vegetables, fruit, herbs, lettuces, flowers, and ornamental greens are picked daily and offered along with our handcrafted wreaths and bouquets. Once a small farm stand, now a local landmark, the Red Barn Store has both supported and nourished the Sonoma community for over 30 years.

Please join us! No experience is necessary. All you need is something to draw on and something to draw with (it’s also nice to have a folding chair, some bottled water, and a hat).

TIME: 10am – 1pm
DATE: Saturday July 14
WHERE: Oak Hill Farm of Sonoma
15101 Sonoma Hwy, Glen Ellen, CA
(You’ll know when you’ve reached the turnoff on HWY 12 when you see the tree roots sketched above.)

Jack London Sate Park

Jack London is internationally famous for his books Call of the Wild (1903), The Sea Wolf (1904). Today the London estate is a public park which includes 1400 acres of trails, pristine vistas, and historic buildings demonstrating early 20th century life. I sketched the Stallion barn with the London’s cottage in the background surrounded by vineyards.

Ready, Set, Sketch: Jack London State Park

Screen Shot 2014-05-04 at 9.33.02 PMThe next “Ready, Set, Sketch!” group outing is Saturday May 10, 2014. 10:00 am – 1:00 pm Jack London State Park near Glen Ellen, CA.

There is a $10 fee per vehicle so it’s best to buddy up. Park in the UPPER LOT, if possible, and we’ll all meet at the entrance. I’ve never visited this park before but I know there are plenty of great drawing opportunities. All you need is something to draw on and something to draw with (it’s also nice to have a chair to sit on).

Each month we meet at a different location around Sonoma County the second Saturday of each month. Last month in the town of Sonoma, eight sketchers took part, each with various levels of sketching abilities, and we all had a great time. So what are you waiting for? Come on out and join us!
