Ready, Set, Sketch: Cornerstone Sonoma!

Screen Shot 2016-06-04 at 2.44.50 PM

Come join us SATURDAY June 11 at 10am-1pm at Cornerstone Sonoma for the next “Ready, Set, Sketch!” group outing.

As you may know, Sunset magazine now owns Cornerstone and use it for their test gardens. Info from their website: “Cornerstone Gardens are an ever-changing series of gardens, showcasing innovative designs from international and local landscape architects and designers. The gardens were inspired by the International Garden Festival at Chaumont-Sur-Loire to create a cultural and creative haven, celebrating the connection between art, architecture and nature. There are currently nine Cornerstone Gardens. Additionally, the five Sunset Gardens highlight food production, the Sunset plant line, bee habitat, cut flowers and composting.”

We’ll meet at 10am at the entrance then disperse to sketch around the area. We’ll meet back at 1pm to share our sketches.

All you need is something to draw on and something to draw with (it’s also nice to have a chair to sit on).

Ready, Set, Sketch: Westerbeke Ranch in Sonoma!

Saturday May 9 — 9:45am-1pm

Westerbeke Ranch is a very special retreat center in Sonoma that has been family owned for generations. It is located on 9 acres, with hand-built buildings that were originally constructed as a family vacation compound. There are great stories about the evolution of the property and the many things that have happened there. This is one sketch meet-up you don’t want to miss!
I’ve been told we should park in the main parking lot and enter the regular way guests come to the Ranch.

All you need is something to draw on and something to draw with. There is no charge to get into the Coppola estate.

Please email me if you plan on attending. Richard (at) Artstudios dot com

Jack London Sate Park

Jack-London-State-Park_s

Jack London is internationally famous for his books Call of the Wild (1903), The Sea Wolf (1904). Today the London estate is a public park which includes 1400 acres of trails, pristine vistas, and historic buildings demonstrating early 20th century life. I sketched the Stallion barn with the London’s cottage in the background surrounded by vineyards.
